Feeling anxious now and then is normal as it is a normal emotion. You may get nervous at some situation at work, or making an important decision or an unexpected change of situation, or taking an exam. But anxiety disorders are different. They include mental illnesses that cause problem that keep you from carrying on with life in a normal manner.
Anxiety neurosis includes worrying excessively, dizziness, palpitations, choking shortness of breath, or fear of dying.
Constant worrying and fear can be overwhelming and disable a person. But treatment helps to overcome the fear and they can go back to normal life.
Types of Disorders
Anxiety disorder includes different types of problems:
Panic Disorder: At random, you are taken by sudden surge of terror. You may sweat, feel palpitations (excessively strong or irregular heartbeats), chest pain. You may even get a choking feeling or feel as if you are getting a heart attack.
Social anxiety disorder: Social anxiety disorder is also known as social phobia. This happens when you feel excessive worry, self-conscious about daily social issues. You are fixated about being judged by others, or ridiculed or embarrassed.
Specific phobias: You may be a sufferer of specific phobias. You may feel intense fear of a particular situation or object as fear of height or flying. The fear surpasses the actual happening and you may start avoiding ordinary situations.
Generalized anxiety disorder: Generalized anxiety disorder is termed as feeling unrealistic tension or worry with almost no reason.

- Not being able to stay still and calm
- Sleeping problems
- Cold, sweaty, tingling, numb feet or hands
- Feeling shortness of breath
- Having Palpitations in the heart
- Experiencing dry mouth
- Tense muscles
- Nausea
- Dizziness
Researchers do not know the reason of anxiety disorders. Like other mental illnesses they happen due to a combination of things as changes in the brain, genes or environmental stress. The reason of getting the disorder may be linked to faulty brain circuits that are responsible for controlling fear and other types of emotions and it may be running in the families.
